Blues in the Afternoon with Mike Jacobs

The hottest ticket this summer will be the Playing with Fire Concert Series in celebration of it's 10th anniversary of providing free music to area residents and visitors of all ages.

The concerts take place at Lewis & Clark Landing on Omaha's Riverfront with gates opening at 5pm Friday and 4pm Saturday.

Admission is free but free will donations will be accepted at the gate,with portions of the proceeds donated to the Food Bank of the Heartland and American Parkinson Disease Foundation/ Nebraska Chapter.

Once again this year The Blues Society of Omaha is sponsoring a
show that will benefit the annual toy drive for the children of the Pine
Ridge Reservation. The concert is Sunday December 2nd at the 21st Saloon
located at 4727 South 96th Plaza just south of L Street. Music starts at 3:00PM
and will feature Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, The Loose

Tommy Castro joins the previously announced lineup for the October 12th Playing with Fire Fundraiser Concert at Slowdown. The October show is the first in a series of fundraiser concerts supporting the FREE Playing with Fire Summer Concert held each year on the Lewis & Clark Landing along Omaha’s Riverfront. The series kicks off on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 7:30PM featuring Curtis Salgado, Joe Louis Walker,Tommy Castro and the Painkillers.

KIOS presents The Emergence of Bonnie Raitt: In The Slipstream on Sunday July 15th at 5:00PM. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and multiple Grammy-Award winner Bonnie Raitt is emerging from a 7 year studio layoff with a new record and tour. It's an opportune time to hear about her new music (Slipstream, released on April 10) and revisit her remarkable career and personal story. This two-hour special includes interviews with Bonnie as well as friends and colleagues like Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Bill Payne, Maia Sharp, Freebo plus NPR music critic Ann Powers.

Levon Helm Rambles Home: An Appreciation will air Sunday June 17th at 7:00PM. This one-hour special features music and commentary about the late musician Levon Helm, drummer for the seminal Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group, The Band, and a revered solo artist. Helm died on April 19th at the age of 71 from a recurrence of throat cancer. The program features Helms vocals and drumming with The Band, as well as some of his post-Band performances with special attention given to his Midnight Ramble concerts held in recent years at his home in Woodstock, NY.
