Meeting Billie Holiday

During my next semester at Temple University in Philadelphia, 1955, I learned that WFLN was looking for announcers and decided to audition. Yes, the WFLN. Jazz CD of the Month: Phil Woods & The Festival Orchestra / New Celebration / Chiaroscuro Records

Phil Woods’ soulful brilliance glows everywhere you turn in this 2013 release from Chiaroscuro Records . At home little Gordon delighted in recordings of Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Ravel, Debussy. And was baby-sat while his father played Mozart and Haydn string quartets with friends.
