NEW YORK (AP) — Doug McDermott, the nation's leading scorer who led Creighton to a second-place finish in its first year in the Big East, is the unanimous choice as the conference's player of the year.
At this time a year ago, Creighton men’s basketball fans were on their way in droves to St. Louis for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. But this year, as a first-year member of the Big East, Creighton will head to New York instead for the conference tournament. As Omaha Public Radio’s Greg Echlin reports, the Valley has been trying to recover from Creighton’s departure.
Creighton's Doug McDermott is an All-America for the second straight year while Trey Burke of Michigan and Otto Porter Jr. of Georgetown tied as the leading vote-getters for The Associated Press' first team.
