Bellevue Police Department moves forward

Bellevue Interim Police Chief Mark Elbert.

Bellevue’s Interim Police Chief says things are starting to return to normal for the department.

Captain Mark Elbert is Interim Chief, following the resignation of John Stacey. Stacey was placed on administrative leave in early May following allegations that he made an inappropriate remark to a teenage girl while she was touring a Fire Station. Stacey’s last day with the Bellevue Police Department was Thursday.

Community garden stolen

Omaha Parks and Recreation officials say a community garden was stolen over the weekend.

In a news release, Parks officials say the 4,800 square foot garden at Sherman Community Center was dug up and stolen. Sherman Community Center is located at 5701 North 16th Street.

Children who participate in programs at the Sherman Community Center planted the garden. Among the produce planted there were tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and onions.

There were about 75 plants in the garden.
