DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Recent heavy rainfall has washed away or at least lessened drought conditions in swaths of Nebraska and Iowa.

As of Tuesday, 70 percent of Nebraska remained in moderate to extreme drought conditions.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Soaking rain across much of the nation's midsection has helped further alleviate drought in the crop growing states of Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Small portions of Nebraska also saw improvement.

The USDA anticipates Nebraska ag producers will plant 9.9 million acres of corn this year.
