An NPR tradition every New Year's Eve since 1979, Toast of the Nation brings you jazz that you can party to all night long, with countdowns to midnight in all four continental time zones.

Tune in to KIOS Monday night at 8:00pm for An Afro Blue Christmas. This special holiday concert program features Howard University's premiere vocal ensemble Afro Blue, and special guest pianist Cyrus Chestnut, The a-cappela group performs a variety of holiday songs including African-American spirituals, jazz and pop tunes, and classical repertoire. The joyous celebration includes one of a kind arrangements on traditional holiday songs plus new perfect for the holidays and the spirit of Christmas.

A Jazz Piano Christmas airs Tuesday, December 23 at 8:00pm on KIOS.

KIOS kicks off Jazz Appreciation Month in April with highlights of the 2014 UNO Great Plains Jazz Festival with performances from area high school jazz ensembles. This special program airs Tuesday, April 1 at 8:00pm. The festival took place on February 21st at the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

KIOS airs Lou's Legacy: A Lou Reed Appreciation Sunday night at 7:00pm.

Rock icon Lou Reed died earlier this week at age 71. His work as a member of the Velvet Underground and his years as a solo artist inspired generations of fans and musicians alike. To honor Reed, KIOS will air the two-hour special  Lou's Legacy: A Lou Reed Appreciation Sunday night at 7:00 .

KIOS will air the two-hour special The Best of the 2011 Detroit Jazz Festival on Friday August 31st at 8:00PM. Join us for another spectacular showcase of some of the world's finest jazz musicians as they perform at one of the largest jazz festivals in the U.S.  Among the highlights are performances by Paquito D' Rivera, Joe Lovano, Jeff "Tain" Watts, and Helen Sung. The program is hosted by Ed Love of WDET and Linda Yohn of WEMU.
