UNO hosting public dialogue about race and diversity

Omaha, NE – UNO's anti-racism public dialogue is an outgrowth of a previous forum on race. Peggy Jones, chair of UNO's Black Studies Program, says the issue has significant local and national relevance, especially with a viable black Presidential candidate. Jones says she hopes the public learns from the dialogue to take a proactive approach to combat racism. The anti-racism public dialogue is from 7:30 AM to 4 PM Saturday at UNO's Milo Bail Student Center.

Save Rosenblatt Committee notes positive public response

Omaha, NE – Save Rosenblatt Chairman Jason Smith says the public's response to renovation plans has been very positive. The group introduced renovation plans two months ago with a price tag of about $60 million. Smith says the proposed Rosenblatt renovations are also among the top ballpark options being explored by Mayor Mike Fahey's Stadium Oversight Committee. That committee is also said to be considering two sites for a new ballpark that'll host the College World Series. An announcement could happen next month.

Interim Police Chief named

Omaha, NE – Omaha's Interim Police Chief is Eric Buske, a 23-year veteran of the Police Department who most recently was the officer in command at Westroads December fifth. Buske says he'll apply for the permanent position of Chief. Mayor Mike Fahey says an internal search will be conducted in the coming months to select a new Police Chief. Fahey says he's confident in the Police Department's leadership and knows a new chief can be found from within.
