Veteran percussionist, bandleader, created unique blend of tropical jazz.

Omaha, Nebraska – Norman Hedman, one of the most accomplished percussionists in the world, passed away Monday, September 29th, in New York.

A master congero, bandleader, and sideman, he had been diagnosed with leukemia while rehearsing for a recent tour with the Alicia Keys band.

Special to air at 8pm Thursday on KIOS-FM.

KIOS will air a special concert in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month on Thursday April 10th at 8:00PM.

From Lincoln Center in New York, The Wynton Marsalis Septet will reunite for a performance of In This House, On This Morning. The work was originally issued on Columbia Records in 1994. It takes the form of a Sunday church service in three parts and combines gospel, blues and New Orleans style jazz.

The program is produced by Steve Rathe for the WFMT Radio Network.
