Two games scheduled Monday as 2012 NCAA Mens College World Series continues

Day four of the NCAA Mens College World Series begins at 4PM.

There are two games at TD Ameritrade Park Monday.  The first is Florida and Kent State. Kent State is one of two first-time participants in the College World Series. The other, Stony Brook, lost Sunday.

At 8PM, Arkansas plays South Carolina. The Gamecocks won the College World Series in 2010 and 2011.

This is the second year of the Series at TD Ameritrade Park.

Metro Transit Offers Stadium Circulator for 2nd Year

For the 2nd year in a row, Metro Transit will offer its stadium circulator service for those attending the College World Series

Marketing Director Linda Barritt says the stadium circulator connects the stadium with downtown hotels, public parking and the Old Market.  

The fare is .25 cents each way.  She says the circulator will operate throughout the day today for the opening ceremonies.

2012 College World Series begins Thursday with opening ceremonies

The NCAA Men’s College World Series begins Thursday in Omaha with opening ceremonies.

It's the second CWS at T-D Ameritrade Park, and the 62nd Series in Omaha. South Carolina won the College World Series in 2010 and 2011. The eight CWS teams have open practices starting at 9:00 a.m. The opening ceremony is at 8:30 p.m. and features members of the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.

The first three College World Series were held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Wichita, Kansas. The first CWS in Omaha was in 1950.

Worker injured during construction of swim trials competition pool

A worker injured Tuesday while working on the decking for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials competition pool could be released from the hospital today.

Swim Trials COO Harold Cliff says the worker was installing plywood on the deck when he slipped and fell. The worker, a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local Union 42, suffered a concussion and broke two fingers.

MECA spokeswoman Rebecca Kleeman says the worker was conscious when he was taken to the hospital and is expected to fully recover.

Construction on U.S. Olympic Swim Trials pools nearing completion

Construction on two swimming pools at the CenturyLink Center is Omaha is nearly complete.

Workers are building the pools in the convention center and arena for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials. This is the second time Omaha is hosting the trials. In 2008, more than 1,200 U.S. Swimming team members competed in Omaha. This time around it’ll be 1,800 swimmers.

Swim Trials COO Harold Cliff says construction has gone smoothly, and both pools are on schedule. Once construction is finished, both pools they’ll be filled and heated.
