ST. LOUIS (AP) — Drought-plagued Midwest farming states got little benefit from the massive storm that pounded the Eastern Seaboard this week, although the nation's worst drought in decades appears to be easing in some areas.
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says portions of Interstate 80 and two other highways in western Nebraska have reopened following their closure because of blowing dirt and strong winds.
Drought conditions in Nebraska are nearly unchanged from last week, according to a new report.
The new report from the National Drought Mitigation Center was released Thursday morning. 98 percent of Nebraska is now in an extreme to an exceptional drought. Last week, it was 91 percent. 22 percent of the state remains in an exceptional drought, the same as last week.
67 percent of Iowa is in an extreme drought, up from 62 percent last week. No areas are in N exceptional drought.
